What a [Pregnant] Girl Wants

Can't say I'm a huge Christina Aguilera fan, but I was thinking back on this pregnancy and the definite cravings I've had (trying to remember what they were with Reese) and wanted to document. Who knows, maybe Sam will follow suit. :)

First Trimester

Grapefruit

SO delicious! I'm sure everyone who saw me eating one thought I was crazy- peeling and eating them like oranges (it made me laugh to watch the double takes and thought processes going on), but they were dee-vine!

Second Trimester

Chocolate Pudding

Like with Reese, it wasn't until about 2 months into my second trimester that I could stand sweet stuff again, but once it hit, I became an absolute sucker for Ice-cold Chocolate Pudding cups. We ate SO many through the hot summer months!

Third Trimester

Cereal

This has become my favorite after-nap treat! Cold milk over Mini Spooners or Honey Bunches of Oats- mmm!

Squeak

Last night Ryan and I played Scrabble. You never know what your going to get playing this one- laughter, fuming, tears (hey- I'm pregnant! I blame it all on the hormones!). But I hit an all time high on the scoreboard and can't keep from shouting my joy to the world-

87 points with just one word!

Squeak
I'll forever say it with pride. :)

Let's talk Laundry

Every so often I happen upon a product that seriously causes a near heart attack of pleasure because it just works SO well. Usually these are cleaning products- the last one was
Shaklee's Scrubby Stuff aka "Scour Off"

Ryan informed me that for him this wasn't quite as life-changing, having grown up on a steady diet of Shaklee everything, but it was absolute revelation to me! A MUST for anyone who has kids that like to draw on things or wants to clean their oven without all those wretched fumes while keeping their hands and arms intact and hardly having to scrub. Seriously awesome. I keep telling my mother-in-law I should be on a commercial for Shaklee- it's that much enthusiasm.

Anyway, that's not actually the commercial spot I'd like to share with you today. Last night I discovered something that simply ROCKED MY WORLD!

Ok, so how many of you have accidentally washed whites with something colored (those problematic baseball tees, for example, or a stray sock?) and had color bleed all over the white fabric? Me too. And usually what I do is curse myself for being stupid and then I try to wash it again with lots of Shout or OxyClean but eventually give the shirt (or whatever it is) up for dead. And sometimes I cry.

That's what happened yesterday. Last week I found all these adorable little onesies for Sam at a garage sale and one of them, a cute baseball tee had a slight stain on it so I decided to soak a few of the white ones with it in OxyClean along with a few new, white Maternity Shirts. Somehow the fact that this baseball tee had red sleeves didn't really register, or maybe I figured that since it wasn't brand new it was ok. Long story short, I emptied the bucket to find everything streaked with hot pink- and I mean big streaks. Oh Horror- The red had bled everywhere! All the cute onesies, the shirts I loved, even the baseball tee was SO much worse than it started. And it's not like I could just make the pink work- we're having a boy!

That's when I discovered Rit Laundry Treatment, Color Remover (Thank you Google!). Good night nurse- this stuff is A-MAZE-ING! In just one wash, it completely removed ALL pink from everything. I couldn't stop talking about it all night- with everything in exclamation points. :) I SO wish I'd had the presence of mind to snap before and after shots. Ooh, and guess what- only $1.66 a box at your local Wal-Mart! Simply stellar.

Here's the very basics of how it works. When colors bleed it's considered a loose dye. Apparently there is a difference between loose and set dyes- the loose ones can be removed!
Rit Color Remover actually pulls all the loose dye from the fabric and just flushes it away, leaving whites looking amazing! So the trick is not to throw that splotchy clothing in the dryer before treating it, because wet or even air-dried clothing keeps the stain a loose dye, whereas the dryer will set it.

So there you go. Now you know what I know, and isn't it great to share?
That's what I keep telling Reese, but that's another battle for another day. ;)

So here's a question for you-

What is your can't-live-without-it, I'm-a new-woman-since-I-discovered _____ product or household tip?

I'd love to know more of these little miracles!

Iss a Bebe Shower!

It's been a busy summer, but I'm finally going to catch up here. About two months ago my sister threw me a fabulously delicious baby shower luncheon. It was SO much fun to see everyone and get excited for our soon-to-be-arriving baby boy, Sam!

Here are some gorgeous shots of the festivities-- thank you, Lemonpeel!

The Guests

Preggo Friends, Sweet Cousins, Sisters, Moms, Aunts, and Adorable little babies. . .

Ry came back from a run to the store with these- he said that since it was a shower he thought he should bring a gift for the Mommy-to-be.

Sigh. I just love him.

The Eats

Kyle got to grilling and we feasted on Fajita Pork & Curry Coconut Chicken Skewers, pasta salad, fresh fruit, and slices of to-die-for Lemon Mousse Crepe Cake. Mese, you seriously outdid yourself!

Parmesan Straws

Veggie Kabobs

Pesto Palmiers

Such a fun, girly luncheon!

The Aftermath

Reese had been decked out in a cute little flower dress to match the Garden Party theme, but we quickly found her stripped down to her skivvies.

Lily loves Reese, and that love is returned a hundredfold. Here they are doing what they normally do- making each other laugh themselves silly.

Relaxing with Ry after everyone else left.

And here she is, the Hostess with the Mostess-

No words. Just awe-inspired silence.

(PS- I'll try to get the recipes up that I mentioned earlier soon!)

Let them Eat Cake!

It's been an overwhelmingly-sweet last few weeks at the Badger house. So much cake.
So, so much cake. :)

I think the Ryan will have pie for his birthday.

It's been a little nuts, what with wedding cakes, and baby shower cakes, and family reunions and unbirthday cakes squeezed in between. But here's one of them- a last-minute, jungle-themed cake to welcome baby Jack into the world.

Don't you love their cute little bums?!

I had so much fun designing and putting this one together! I have to give a huge shout-out to two people-

Holly, for the great referral (Thank you!!!)
&
Ryan, for working some serious magic with that sweet lettering- You are SO my favorite!

Stay tuned for more!
