Nothin' Like Fresh Produce!

I think I've mentioned before how Reese loves to 'help' me unload the groceries. This morning while I was putting eggs away I could hear rustling in the living room. I finished what I was doing since I figured I was probably just in for the usual dry goods scavenger hunt. Not so much. This time Reese had found the fruits and veggies and proceeded to sample each of them.
I couldn't help laughing at her when I walked in and she was holding a large bunch of broccoli with a big smile on her face.

Bananas, yams, tomatoes had all been tasted, and when she saw me staring at her she gave a very hearty, "YUM!!!" As though to say, "Sorry Mom, if you don't want me to eat the treats, don't leave them out of the cookie jar."

These last shots are from our outing to McDonalds yesterday with the girls from my workout group and Reese's buddies Wah-Wah (aka Tyler, but they're pretty tight, so I guess he gets a nickname) and Noah. She had a blast with them playing on all the toys.

New picture time! We just had a very successful photo shoot with Mese and Kyle so of course I was inspired to update.
Someday I'll get the whole thing figured out where you can write on top of the picture in all sorts of cutesy fonts, but for now we'll still with the classic, no-frills,
ode to Ansel Adams black and white.
Mostly I chose this one 'cause I think Ry looks HOT!
(This post's for you baby!)
PS.I can see the comments for this one feeling a bit awkward, so it's alright if you don't make one, that is, unless you too think Ryan looks hot. ;)

The Electric City

"Sittin' in my office wid a plate a grilled bacon,
Called my man Dwight just to see what was shakin' . ."

Any Office fans out there? No? Well, you should really look that one up if you're not familiar with the Michael/Dwight rap. Classic.

Why am I rambling on like this? Well, its all about the Electric City today folks. We just found out this weekend that the interview Ry had last week went so well that that's where we will be chilling for the summer. Now, it's not the one you may be thinking, because (news to us) Scranton is not the only Electric City in the US. Apparently Great Falls Montana earned itself the name as well. And that's where we're going- MONTANA! Yay!

Ry and I are super excited- he'll be working at the Lewis and Clark Center (actually it has a much longer, more official-sounding name which I'm sure Ryan will correct me on later. . .but for now. . .I got nothin') and he's SOOOO excited! He gets to do all sorts of interpretive stuff in the center and all sorts of L&C research and he's as happy as a little puppy with his favorite squeaky toy. Don't ask me why I picked that visual, I don't know. . . But I'm sticking with it. :)

Anyway, I'M really excited because 1-) I won't be working this summer YAY! So Reese and I can play and go swimming and running and do all sorts of mommy/daughter bonding things. 2-) I will finally have time to work on a few writing projects I've had on the list for a while. 3-) We will be only a few hours from Glacier Nat'l Park, a place I've been dying to backpack and explore for years. Double Yay! But mostly 4-) ANYTHING I WANT! Freedom- that's what summer's all about, now, isn't it? I can hardly wait for the end of May!

Wow, I hope you were all prepared for the amount of excitement and, more importantly, the explosive number of exclamation points filling this entry. I apologize for any repercussions that such lack of warning and preparedness might have caused. But I just couldn't help myself! (oops, there's another one. ;)

Ahh, the life of a student.

A few days ago Ry and I were cracking up over the plight of the average starving student, and consequently, the jobs that such people are willing to take. By the end of the conversation we were weeping with laughter, and I thought, since most of our friends and family are either in the same boat or have been there, done that, who are we to keep such laugh-fests to ourselves?

So, here are just a few good ones that we have either applied for, seen advertised, or actually done ourselves.

Dog Kennel: A rough-looking man tells Ry he'll have to sign a release form for the job, meaning he can't sue if he suffers any bodily injury from one of the dogs. This really hit home since Ry couldn't help but notice the man had only one good hand- the other was horribly mangled and missing several fingers.
Molly's Juvy Job: "How YOU doin?" said the little 14-year-old to Molly when she came to pick up her paycheck. Poor kid. Without a hairnet how could he know he was hitting on the lunchlady?
Job Opening- City Pound: You'll kill puppies for a living.
Right, like a person can live with themselves after taking a job like that!
Actual Ad on BYU campus: "Looking for students willing to have tennis balls shot at high speed at their thighs for Science Dept. experiment. Will pay $5."
--The best part is I remember Ryan saying, "Hmm. . .I think I could do it. I mean, my legs are like rocks."

So here's to being a poor student- A comical nod to those crazy, hand-me-down furnishings, "Yay I found a QUARTER!" times of our lifes!

It was inevitable.

So for a while now Reese has been on this extremely girly streak. She wants me to put lip gloss on her, she LOVES it when Daddy says she's pretty, and anyone who knows her knows that she's been a flirt from day one.

One of the many girly perks she's fallen in love with is lotion. I'll put a smidgen on her hands, show her how to rub them together and then put it on her cheeks and the rest of her face. She's a big fan. That's why I say it was inevitable. . . today she found the Desitin.

Oi.

Shenanigans

The title is a word I find used way too infrequently. Therefore I'm not so sure it has application so much as I just really like it. :)

This is going to be a random post. . .hmm, that never seems to happen here, Chez Badger, does it? Anyway, I was just flipping through the pics on my camara and had forgotten how funny Reese has been over the last week or so. Donc, voila quoi. :)

This is the balloon Reese got at Macey's the other day. It was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. . .

But she decided she wasn't ready for that much commitment.

Reese found some of her clothes the other day and decided to dress herself. She managed to get the dress around her head, but the rest. . .well. . .

We found her the other morning like this. She's gotten into the habit lately of stripping as soon as she wakes up- a few weeks ago she got everthing off including her diaper, luckily, it was fairly clean.

Definitely some incentive for mom and dad to get moving just a little bit faster in the morning.

And finally, remember this picture?

Well, I finally did it. . .

Ta-Da!

So. . .spirits, huh?

I was cruising the aisles at the grocery store this afternoon and walked past a couple of employees as they chatted. I was close enough that I caught just a snippet of their conversation:

Employee #1 "I mostly communicate with middle spirits."

Employee #2 "Middle spirits?"

Employee #1 "Yeah, you know, the ones that aren't really evil, but aren't really good either."

Oh really? . . . Do you now?
